There were many smiles at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Wednesday as patients enjoyed frozen treats while helping spread the word about an upcoming Children’s Miracle Network event.
Thursday is Miracle Treat Day, an annual campaign by Dairy Queen benefiting the hospitals like Doernbecher that are part of the Children’s Miracle Network.
Staff from local Dairy Queen locations stopped by the hospital Wednesday for Blizzard Day, bringing treats and balloons for patients, families and hospital staff.

Many Portland-area DQ locations are participating, and will donate $1 or more for every Blizzard sold.
The event has been running for more than 10 years, and last year raised over $5 million to Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the country.
